Having a long history of chasing ' oor native troot ' its difficult to decide which i'v enjoyed the most.Fishing from the boat or taking my chances off the bank. Its a hard call and iv had some good fishing doing both.Of course the best of both worlds can be had if your fishing a loch which provides easy wading and access and its not the first time iv drew the boat in and had a couple of hours off the bank sometimes with quite surprising results. However managing a boat on your own presents its own challenges more so if the Loch you happen to be fishing doesnt allow for out-boards.So its just you the oars and the drogue {BLISS}.I abandoned traditional loch style fishing for brown trout many years ago instead opting for the short rod {9ft} a 2 fly cast fished of a full floating w/f 6 weight.Invariably this method ensures visual takes in the first 2 or 3 draws of the retreive, exciting stuff ! So using light tackle and with a warm favourable wind at your back coupled with a big slice of Lady Luck sport from the boat can be spectacular. And as the picture shows i had all of these things in my favour on that particular day. A bloody 4 flee cast ! It would end in tears with me, tangle central! I fish 2 at most and on the top with a nice dry can't be arsed to pull lures through the water. been on the watch water lately, got a new owner and he is stocking it hard with some good fish.
