Very poor condition especially the silver one, looks like a lamprey has been hitchin a ride too. It was on telly the other night that salmon were coming back from the feeding grounds in poor condition. No amount of C&R can fix poor feeding at sea. It's time the powers that be took a much wider view

Might be, must have went to sea and come back again as I have never seen sea lice or the scales dropping off a kelt before but will find out when the report comes back. If that's the case there was a lot of these skinny things came back into the river this morning.

If that's the case there was a lot of these skinny things came back into the river this morning. you get them quite often they drop back to the estuary/sea and follow a pod of fresh ones back up into the river Thanks on that one Martin something I have learned never new that happened and got to admit douse look like a Kelt. And there wasn't just that one saw a few splashing around the pool.

See a fair few on our beat around april time i'll try and see if i have photos of some of them Thanks, First time I have ever come across one like that, wonder if it is the same situation with these so called skinny Grilse that have been coming in for the last 3 or so years April May on seems strange cause if it was down to a shortage of food you would think it would affect all incomers.
