Got curious about these things so decided to try some myself. Haven't fished them yet but here's what I've been experimenting with lately. Got inspired by Dave's 'mobility swap' Let me know what you guys think and how you'd suggest I improve on them. They aren't to big so shouldn't be to hard to cast but with the cone in front and the soft materials they'll hopefully draw some attention from the fish. front and rear shot of the same fly. And another one with fox/nayat wing in there and a longer body to get the hook further back. Let me know what you think

Very nice Christian, they should have loads of movement in them. They swim better with a wing as in your second fly rather than without, the wing acts like a rudder keeping the fly sitting steady in the water rather than twisting and turning. Keep them coming

Thanks for the comments Dave I was thinking the same with the wing, that's why the second one has one Also it should add a bit of extra movement to the back of the fly which I like. If you look at steelhead flies many of them are tied 'in the round' as well so I thought why not give it a try and see how it works with the cone. I prefer fishing with a dangling hook, maybe the tube will spin on the line? We'll see. I'll post up some more tonight.

i tyed one similar myself during the summer for when the water was slow and life less ,anyway i went through the pool with an ordinary hairwing with no success then on my second cast going back through it my fly was mauled before i could even mend it resulting in a 13lber ..its certainly got my vote il be using it again in more slower lifeless water were the marraboo can work better

Very nice flies there CB.
What setup are you using for these patterns in regards tubing and cone sizes?

Thanks Neil, the tubes are 4mm outer tubing with 2mm inner tubing and the cones are Eumers "brass monster cones" size medium
macd, I'm curious as well, can imagine they'll move very nicely especially in slower water. They seem to be used in certain Scandinavian patterns but I don't know how widely they are used. I think in all black these will make nice seatrout (night) flies.
