a respected tay ghillie once told me to always add a second split ring to the bum end of my spoons ie tobies and blair spoons he said that it gave the fish less chance of twisting the hook out have any of you heard of this and im interested if any of you do this im sure i can remember a time when abu used to stick two rings on anyway but i cant be sure

It's all to do with articulation. The big Salmo's come with two split rings but I cant recall the smaller sizes having more than one, oh, and a ridiculously oversized treble hook.

I've added a ring to the tobys for as long as I can remember, even written to ABU years ago asking for an extra ring and a decent hook but had no reply.

Aye 2 split rings and a partridge treble that suits the size of spoon or toby for me.
