Have tied a few shrimp pattern's and ally tubes for the river. Can anyone recommend any other specific pattern's for this river that I may need. Cheers

Hi guys if anybody is out in the area next week would it be possible to give us an update on conditions, would be appreciated before the long drive north. Have just found out that the brake pads are gone on the Audi and a nail in the rear tyre hopefully the only bad luck before the trip. Any recommended pubs and food in Berwick. All the best sewinfly.................

Well I made to the Whiteadder and the conditions were 18" up on the river level and running with just a hint of that peaty colour. Jim my bro in law was fishing a s/h rod and me on the d/h. No fish were seen moving and then at about 4:30 pm I said to Jim this is the witching hour and after tying on an ally black/yellow tube that I tied up for the trip he hooked into the first recorded springer of the season on the Whiteadder. Fish was released The following day fish were seen moving and after having a salmon roll onto my fly and a couple of pulls later in the day that was it. But great weather and a great river to fish. Jim with his gun dog Mink's looking on. sewinfly...............

Congratulations on a cracking fish, report and photos. It was well deserved considering the distance travelled! Although threads like this, conveying the planning, anticipation and pleasure of salmon fishing are the essence of a successful forum, I believe a little caution is also necessary. Some comments and details are perhaps best kept within the confines of private messages on a public forum. I think that there are good reasons for this, but this is not the place for airing my thoughts! ;D Sorry for hijacking this thread, and I’ll keep my heed below the parapets for a while now! Well done again on the fish , Cheers Fenton

I can understand where Fenton is coming from and I will be a bit more cautious in the future if that is required in posting.
I am not new to forums and I know that many people view in and take advantage of the information that is honestly given out.
Altogether I had a round trip of 950 plus miles, its that we had a cracking trip and to be fair Jim, done well on the S/H in landing the fish.
Cheers Spencer....
