I am pleased to announce that for the 2012 season The Kyle of Sutherland Angling Association (K.O.S.A.A.) are introducing visitors season permits for the first time.
The Kyle of Sutherland Angling Association is fortunate in having access to some 14 miles of one of the few pristine waterways in the North of Scotland, set amidst the outstanding natural beauty of the County of Sutherland, one of the UK’s last remaining wildernesses. The association’s water extends from the Creich pool, to the East of Bonar Bridge, and as far West to where it is joined by the rivers Cassley and Oykel. The Kyle has four feeder rivers which are amongst the most prolific Salmon Rivers in the Highlands, the Carron, Shin, Cassley and Oykel, all of which are top class Highland fly fisheries. It is, therefore, little wonder that the Kyle is such a popular fishery.
The Kyle has long been known for its Sea Trout and every year returns a good head of fish, with fish regularly topping the 3lb mark, with good sized Brown Trout also present. The association originated as a Sea Trout club in 1966.
The sight of a fish being caught on rod and line is just as enthralling to both anglers and non anglers alike, and it is a sight that local residents and visitors can expect to see on a regular basis. With the main road through Bonar Bridge as a vantage point, and the tide right, a line of anglers wading in the Kyle at Bonar Bridge is the usual view.
The permit will cost:
£150 for seniors (over 16)
£50 for 12-16 Year Olds
(There will also be a one off joining fee of £10)
The permit will allow the holder to fish the Kyle from the 1st June until the 30th September inclusive (loch fishing is not included)
Applications must be in no later than the 1st of July and will be by application only.
