I have been using calf tail for the wings on my sunray's to date as it is the only material i have found in the desired length and to be fair they do seem to the job, but it is a bit corse...some of the sunrays i have seen in tackle shops have a much softer wing but they are generally much shortly that i like to tie.
I would be interested to know what others use and is it available in 6-8" lengths... thanks

Cashmere goat or colobus monkey are great for the wing for sunrays.
other than that, silver fox dyed black, or if you want to dye your own then use arctic marble fox as it is even longer than silver fox.

Colobus monkey is by far the best material for these long winged patterns
