hi folks ive not been on for ages my salmon fishing was halted last year due to my back plus tennis elbow due to working strains then in november last year i lost my job and didnt start working again until march so moneys been non existent plus i had to get rid of quite a fair bit of gear , now to my question in two weeks im off for a fortnight to speyside with the hope to get at least one days fishing but im limited as far as tackle is concerned i have my 15ft reddington rod which is very tip heavy and uncomfortable after a few hours , and ive got a couple of decent reels and lines i will have about 400 to spend on a new rod which must be 4 peice so we can get it in the boot i was looking at the hardy uniqua as ive got the 9ft 10wght for my pike fishing which is superb but are there any other sudggestions must be 15ft four peice with tube and fairly light but durable that will handle short to medium head lines and the odd bit shooting head work . any advice will be much appreciated thanks.

A Daiwa wilderness XT is a cracking tool for the money. The 13' with an 8/9 Afs on it is superb fun to use and comes with a lifetime warranty.
Not so keen on them with full lines on them, but a Snowbee 2D works off them.
15' and 13' are very good for the pricepoint.

thanks for the replies folks . martin pm replied cheers , scanny i hadnt even given the daiwas a thought they would save me quite a lot though id have enough cash left over for a couple of days fishing too , i know donald has a couple of them ill maybe give him a bell and ask what hes using on them and if he likes them . the oracle has been sudggested too the only thing i hated about them was the cork its the worst ive ever seen but im not sure if theyve improved it on the new xt ones

The wilderness XT is a shooting head tool really, but you'll get a mid Spey on them.
The cork isn't fantastic, handles too thin and the bag is crap, but they are solid enough and if you get any trouble with them Diawa are still good with after sales and getting sections to you. Shop around and you'll get a 15' for less than £140, stick an Afs or 2d on it and your sorted.

oops ive done it again today i went to stirling angling center for a look and a wiggle mainly to have a feel for a few rods i dont want to spend money again and not be happy with a rod thats too heavy or too light if that makes sense and not heavy at the tip i looked at the signatures nice look ,feel and balance they had a b&w 14 ft 9/10 but i wasnt keen, i looked at the dtx but it was slightly out of my price range but nice feel and look , the oracle xt fast looks much better with slightly better cork but when i held it again there was something about it i just didnt like , then after a chat with the owner i ended up walking out the store with a shiny new 15ft hardy uniqua. cracking rod well balanced nice finish and nice and light i know a few dont like hardy rods but i can honestly say ive never had any bother with their kit ive already got a couple of single handers and theyre belters , plus the deal i got meant i saved quite a substancial whack of the retail price , i strung it up once home and the mach 55 was a dream likewise the airflo muti tip was nice to cast with so im very happy roll on the spey next week , now im considering a vision gt stealth to make it complete ;D
