I've decided to treat myself to a new rod - I've narrowed it down to two - the DTX SH and the Le Cie 14' 8 10/11.
I really like both of them and can't choose between them - any thoughts comments would be appreciated. cheers

There should be a huge difference in them both,
If your just fishing shooting heads then it might come down to personal preference on the aesthetics and slightly different actions. If your throwing spey lines too then there should only be one winner
What size are you looking at

The Dtx of course, its a bonafide spey rod even in the Shooting head dress.
Try a 70' on the leCie and see the difference

I will be honest in that I have no real experience of either rod however I was always under the impression, from many experienced owners that the Lecie especially in M/F was pretty good at chucking spey lines. Whereas the DTX is marketed as a Shooting Head rod? You can maybe see where there could be room for confusion from the original view point...

But it was the DTX SH the original post asked about which is why I wondered if that was better with Spey lines than a Le Cie. What would you reckon?

Come out to play and see. Take this one, the 14' original, its a speycasting rod primarily, Stiff tip making it bend to the butt on a fast blank. Is it what people would call a shooting head rod? It'll throw a 75' line happily. It feels nothing like a LeCie but try it against a 14' and see the difference throwing a shooting head, there wont be much. The Dtx generates its thrust much deeper in the blank where as the LeCie is stiffer in the butt. You can stiffen it up a little here and there to make it more efficient casting a shooting head, but it will still load in to cast a full line and be more efficient with a head. It comes down to what you want to feel when it casts. I feel the most difference in the 14's between the Skandi and original. The new Dtx's have had the action tweaked for shooting head, but they will still eat spey lines.

Le Cie 14'8" F 10/11 4 piece Lashes heads for fun and an 11/12 75' Carron disappears oot o sight, in other words great with both heads and spey lines.

Thanks for the replies...not sure I'm any wiser. I think the conclusion has to be that they will both do the job and its largely down to person preference.
If we weren't talking about these two rods, what in your opinions would be the best shooting head rod on the market?
