Had a day at Newtyle yesterday stinger, woodside, salmostalker and, nice to meet for the first time, perthshirefisher
It was a rather cold morning but we were all helped along with some of Malcolm Allan's finest square sausage rolls courtesy of the Bankfoot Deli washed down with a bottle of Balvenie sauce, quickly followed by SG Juice
A stunning day for photos but there were fish to be caught . I was in the boat with martin and up to the Deansie we went with the gauge showing 4' and gin clear, amazing after the weekend's levels.
Within ten minutes the inside rod buckled and it was salmon action time, boat in against the bank, net at the ready I saved martin a job by shaking the fish off, was only a kelt anyway ;D
Shortly thereafter the same rod buckled but nothing came of it, the hip flask was produced and then the outside rod went - good chance of a springer I was told ???after four or five minutes the silver flash was noted but alas a rawner which the photo doesn't do justice to, an absolute cracker.
stinger had the tin of baked beans in the saucpan by this point ;D
Retired for lunch, sandwiches only as the Dunkeld Fish Bar selfishly decided to be closed on a January lunchtime to find that woodside had landed a big 15lb kelt from the cotter.
The rest is history no springers but great to get out on the water again and put a bend in the rod. Thanks again to Martin for a braw day, always better than fishing on your own ;D ;D ;D
Stinger having had his own private lunch of rawner and beans
