Here's a wish for all anglers out their on the opening day on the Tay
Opening Day Ode to the Tay
It’s the Opening Day on the mighty Tay
And the Angler’s are all getting ready
To try out their kit and hope for a hit
In every Pool, Stream and Eddy
They’ve all said their prayers to the Big Man upstairs
Hoping he grants them a Springer!
Of starting in style between Scone and Newtyle
And their hearts are put through the wringer
So let’s wish them the best and they’re up to the test
Of landing a great, muckle salmon
And they all start to sweat as they ready the net
Please God, the Ghillie can calm ‘em!
Where else would you be? Perhaps Spey, Tweed or Dee?
Their seasons’ have not yet begun
For it’s only on Tay that you can fish January
And have some wonderful fun!
