Hi
with the pictures of conehead tubes recently I finally decided I had best give them a try. I ordered the conehead pack from McHardys and it arrived this week.
I tried tying a few last night but found the hard liner tube was too small to fit on my kneedle tube adaptor. I then tied up a 1" copper park shrimp and used the hard liner tube to line it.
Securing the conehead was tricky and I couldn't get the tube to flare giving a tight fit. Eventually I melted the tube and flared it against a cold butter knife then re making the hole with a dubbing needle.
Is there a knack to securely attatching the conehead? The type I got are silver eumer medium and large
thanks for your time

I agree with macd, the eumer tubing works well and gives a good collar when help up to a flame. I don't know what you got from McHardies but if it's the softer tubing keep it to line tubes with instead. If you have problems with the hole clogging stick a needle though the tube before you heat it, you can rotate it a bit but don't pull it out when the plastic is still hot.
Let us know how you get on?

I was going to post this but I found some info on the Eumer website www.eumertube.com/products_plastictubing.php however any tips would be useful. BnC

I tend to use the Eumer "packs" which include all the required bits that all fit together - sorted. The colour range is fairly extensive
I find that the coils of tubing that Eumer sells is not as good quality as Guideline's FITS tubing.

Not my experience- but I have a limited repertoire. i the eumer tubing is A1 for the style of cone I like.
I never found that FITS provided what I needed for a super simple conehead on one diameter.

Eumer's tubing is still very good and the quality in the packs is better than the the loose tubing. The one issue with the FITS is that you really need to use their cones for a decent fit and the Guideline experience is much more expensive than the Eumer experience I don't think enough praise can be lavished upon Eumer for their conehead packs. They are perfect - remember the days of having to troll through a hundred different packets to find a cone, tube, liner, and sleeve that fitted together

When you start mixing cones and tubing from different manufacturers then you will encounter sizing issues. I agree with sloggi, the packs from Eumer are excellent, in that you get the tube body, liner, extension tubing all in one bag, and all components are designed to fit. Simplicity itself ;D ;D.
