To me it would appear that Bill Jack has got things moving. I am sure persons will not mind paying the levy when they can see were the money goes. The nets being off the Earn i for one do not object to returning my fish. If we can now just get a reduction in the number of cormorants and goosanders we could see a diffrence in the trout and grayling fishing which would help us all.

goosander, As you have said Bill Jack does seem to be starting to make a difference now he has got his first year as chairman under his belt. The two things i would like to see him get sorted! is to have the whole system working together in my oppinion there are still some beats not sticking to the guidelines set by the board IE C&R and the use of worms before and after the times of year set by the board. The second one you have already talked about, cormorants and sawbills, these birds are destroying the trout and grayling stocks in the system, what happens when there are no more trout and grayling? Its not rocket science Tony

Tony. You are right again. The board has to do what it can for all the fish in the river. Can not see a goosander/cormorant leaving the parr/smolts alone and just going after the trout/grayling. Every beat should have to observe the rules otherwise there is no point in returning all your fish. Would have throught the board would have eneough clout to go to the Scottish Parliment along with other fishery boards to try and get some restrictions on the seals and other related matters including grants. Feel that the board is starting to take things on board and that improvments are on the way.
Just need to hope that there are not so many fish in the system that persons like myself are not priced off. Bob

Just back from John Youngs open day at Lochlane were the guest speaker was Bill Jack. Feeling that the board has at last got in Mr. Jack a good man to help us all including the Earn. Speaking to him afterwards about several problems in my view on the river it was very encouraging to know that these were being delt with as best as possible. The website and the levy news was very welcome. First time that i have felt that the money we pay [levy] to the board is being used for the good of the rivers. Good luck Mr. Jack and thanks John for an enjoyable time Bob Mitchell
