River Spey Anglers Association(RSAA) presented the results of their recent survey of Spey Anglers at Fleming Hall Aberlour on Monday 8th November. The Association would like to thank all those anglers who submitted a survey form. 165 responses were received before the 15th October deadline. Richard Lochhead MSP for Moray and Cabinet Minister for Rural Affairs and the Environment commented on the survey results and answered a number of questions from the floor. These mainly centred on support for game angling on Speyside and the value of angling as perceived by Scottish Government to the local economy, water abstraction threats, seal and bird predation,potential fish farm threats in the Moray Firth. Mr Lochhead emphasised the need to balance angling interests with those of eco tourism and water power and the need to involve all stakeholders in the decision making process. A decent number of anglers and ghillies were also present as well as representaives from SRG. Mel McDonald Chairman River Spey Anglers Association Representatives from SNH, SEPA, SCA and CNPA were present and contributed to the forum discussion. Attachments:
