Somers in Aberdeen is my local fishing shop and have a great selection their website isn't so good though they have loads of eumer stuff in the shop but not a lot on their website.
Foxytails are excellent.
I used Celtic flycraft the other week and they were impressive too.

A great thread
ordering on line for capes/furs is a pet hate of mine...
I like to see what im getting and been stung a few times in the past with ebay and private sales so getting a list of first class traders would be very helpful and the shops around me dont stock a huge variety at all..
I have ordered of a few in the past
Foxy Tails i cant speak highly enough of the materials and service..
Somers (hooks bits and bobs) was first class delivery
LakeLand (Bits and Bobs) same as Somers

This is a good thread, but nothing beats getting your hands on the materials before you buy to check the quality. I'll only buy items without seeing them first if I really trust or know the person at the other end. For example, next time you're in a tackle shop take all the orange arctic runner or bucktail and look at each one carefully - I bet there's two or three pack you'd really like and two or three packs you'd really not like

I wasn't going to post this one, but seeing as it's a new forum and goodwill and all that ;D As a few of you will know good quality dyed badger capes and saddles are getting harder to come by these days. I have been sourcing them from all over the place and recently found this place. They are Wapsi dyed saltwater rooster saddles (badger) and are massive.(twice the size of the whiting ones being sold in the uk) They have a great depth of colour and a huge range of sizes on them. The central spines are very strong and very fine. I would rate these capes as some of the best I have used. Oh and check that price shipping is normally $10 so it makes it worth while to order a couple. I have spoken to the owner and he can also get the full range of top grade whiting capes special order for $30 plus shipping www.chifly.com/item.asp?prodID=1412&subCategoryID=117&categoryID=24&catID=117&catTab=SUB_CATEGORY&avad=24553_e508767 Enjoy

This is another great source of feathers from the states. All materials for classic flies are also available here. there capes and strung feathers are top quality and the prices are brilliant. I can't recommend them highly enough www.feathersmc.com/

I like taimen as well, they have a good selection and I've always had perfect service from them. They have great pricing for Simms tackle as well if that's your thing. Here's another one that might be interesting for people on the European mainland: www.mistpool.com . Nice people, good materials (also quite a few for classic flies) and free shipping within the EU no matter how much or little you order.

I see that Taimen become bigger and bigger . Now they have also a lot of stuff with their logo. They looks OK . any way probably they are from the same plant in China like Simms or another ;-(

Would agree with positive comments about Foxy-Tails, Pat Nolan and Somers. All have excellent products and great service. John McLaughlin can also have some good capes. www.donegalanglingcentre.com/While I would prefer to inspect fly tying products before buying them, unless you are close to a good shop it is difficult. However, I have always been satisfied with the materials got from the above.

2milebridgt,
Is that a magenta badger cape on right or is it a red badger cape? Does Pat have these capes in other colours?
I will give him a call tomorrow but if you see this post before then you might let me know.
Thanks.
William.
