With the seeming interest in using Skagit lines and turning all types of fishing rods into those that 'could be' used as a fly rod. I can provide evidence that Scottish Ghillies are ahead of the game once again. On Sunday at the Glasgow Angling Centre well known respected Spey Ghillie, Hardy Casting Instructor and Spey commentator Ian Gordon mentioned to me an idea he had which would amuse the crowd at the demonstration site. He said he would show you could cast a Skagit shooting head fly line using a tiny spinning rod (I note you dont need a beach caster to do this!) Ian choosing his seriously small demo rod Note the position of the reel Ian in action to the amusement of the gathered crowd and showing his enthusiam for the task.
