I ended up here after heading to M.Drum this morning to be met with the sight of the Dee more ice than water. Not much to show for our efforts with the river being a bit low and crystal clear. There were a couple of kelty splashes in the Cruick and the Dam but the real eye opener was how much gravel has ended up in the Junction pool altering the course of the current to mid stream. It will be interesting to see how this pool performs this year. A lot of gravel that wasn't here last year. A few pics showing the Junction. [/

Martin its where the Westwater joins the Esk and is a normally a productive pool.

Any springers this far up the N Esk yet? Prob no be many past Morphie with the water temps been so low Pert had one last week so there was at least one over the Dyke

Out again yesterday and what a diiference a month makes with hints of spring around. A steady trickle of fish pushing through in the afternoon with the river at a good fishing height throughout the day. Height at the start Tail of Otter Cruick -what a pool River dropping

Noticed that yesterday. May not be many buds on the trees yet , but the whole picture is one of the countryside slowly turning green.

Thanks to the "early warning system" (Madkeen losing 2 fish!!) I shot up to the Junction Pool and headed them off at the pass. Got this wee fellow on a WG tube - only around 6lbs but welcome as hell. Superb bit of water at yesterday's height and good to see a few fresh fish about.
