roeangler Late july. Fine. Are you going out with Dee on 22 nd July, or there abouts?? You will be ok then, more grilse about then, but still big fish about. My first trip to the Yokanga was last week July 05 , where i landed 38 fish and must have hooked approx 55 or 60 fish for the week. Biggest was 30 lbs approx from memory but all on the sunray. Just for fun. You do not want a heat wave, cause unlike our rivers, the Yokanga is fed from shallow tundra lakes which get 23.5 hours of sun per day, but this is unusual, last year end July was two jacket weather . You will do fine, keep the flies moving, keep thinking about whats happening around you. If the fish dont come up, go down. its unusual that they dont come up though. When you get to seven islands and if you think it looks crap, do me a favour, when you are playing a thirty pounder six feet from the bank, appologise to seven islands, cause everyone thinks the same , but gets stripped or lands their biggest fish ever. The mosquitoes can be bad if there is no wind about, so take urax and ultrathon. Not midge repellent, its pish.
Keep us posted Cheers, all the best Loopie
