Bit of a geeky post to start me off here gents..... Is there anyone out there who has bought a PT pre-looped 10/11 line recently that could accurately weigh it and let me know? My own recent purchase of a PT 9/10 line weighs in at 36.5g which my 14ft Catapult, rated 9/10 34g is not happy with at all. Was wondering about purchasing the 15ft 37g Catapult for heavier lines and waters. Cheers, Mark.

HI
There are a few members on here who im sure can help you out. Like you i have no experience cutting back shooting heads but after being shown how easy it is to i have 5 PT heads coming to cut back.
If you fancy doing it yourself id get a set of scales out of go get to the river and trim 3-6" of each time until you get to a length you are happy with.
The catapult is a cracking rod i tried on on saturday and threw the AFS no problem

I have cut back PTs in previous years but just prefer a factory finished loop to be honest. I used the AFS last season with the Catapult which did work very well however I want more depth options, eg, S1/2, S2/3, which I can't get from Rio. Currently have floater and S4 + polyleaders. Also felt that the AFS fine long taper was a bit of a handicap in head winds when compared to the more aggressiove taper on the PTs Cheers, Mark.

I weighed my PT un looped and found that it exceeded the range or 38-41 grams that Guidline had given me for my new rod by 6 grams. so off it went and now it weighs in at 41grams. This brought the overall length down from, if I recall rightly from 13m to 11.5, which should also suite my ability better, I think/hope/pray? For the record I weighed the line on the receptionist letter weigh scales Hope she doesn't read this ;D

Just carried out my first heat shrink and it could be better aligned, but the strength is still there. I have tried pulling it and it is sound, so would have no hesitation in fishing with them done this way. Did one end with the heat gun and the other with the lighter, but work well if you take your time.

A word of warning if you don't get the welding just right the flexing of the line during casting can work the parts apart. Do check regularly to see if the joins have moved. Some types of plastic weld better than others and some lines will not weld very well at all.

I will check. first impressions are that it is well welded, but I will check frequently.
