I've fished lakes for trout and warmwater species for quite some time, but I rarely catch brown trout. Do you mainly fish at night for big browns? do you drift a team of flies or anchor up near weedbeds?
I guess what I'm asking for is a synopsis of your favorite fishing techniques from a boat on lakes.
thanks in advance, Bob

For instance, if there is a nice Westerly breeze blowing with a nice ripple on the water, I fish a team of 3 wet flies/nymphs, casting in front of the drifting boat, can be very good. If its calm, then that can be more challenging. But one way to fish it would be to just cast to the rising trout or stick on a floating fly on the end with a couple of buzzers or similar flies between that and the fly line, leaving it static. Of course the end floating fly will be "gunked" up to keep it floating. My favourite time of the trout feeding calendar is from August onwards when the sedges come out - the rises to a floating elk hair sedge can be excellent. Again the nearer it gets to dusk on a warm light breezy night, the better. I have fished these conditions many times, and when they are on the feed, you don't know what one to cast to. IMHO its one of the best times of the year and eagerly awaited by most fishermen. Apart from the above there is of course the early spring when one fishes sunk lines or inty, pulling lures. this method whilst boring and hard work can produce some good over wintered fish, but is not preferred way of fishing. There will be many other "favourite" methods, but I have highlighted some of mine. KF
