Yeah, I've heard that the Clyde is a better bet than the Leven. SpeyCaster, do you catch fish regularly on the Leven? What are the successful tactics?

the past years ive not caught alot lost a fair few fish i would say 60/40 the 60 % has been on the black flying c and the 40 % on the fly flies like the cascade monkey allys i dont fish the worm that often your best bet of a fish in my opinion would be on the black flying c ive seen to may get caught on it if you contact salmon nut he will sell you the best flying c's out

Aye I've got a load of salmon nuts black flying c's. Another good colour is purple, I had 2 in one day last summer on a purple flying c, they're not that common though and it's hard to come across them. The guys that catch fish use mainly black. You need fish coming through the system though, timing is everything on the Leven...

Still no fish reported off the loch or the river, the waters well up too. It doesn't bode well, fingers crossed the first springer isn't far away.

Is anyone fishing the river or is it a case of a lot of effort but no fish?

I think that the last angler put out the light switch last season. Ever one I know has moved else where it is only folk with boats that have an investment in the system now. However with the smolt program about to pay hefty returns this year it should bring a lot more anglers to the system.

Is that last remark said with tongue firmly in cheek kmacc? I heard recently that they put in 20,000 smolts, dont know how accurate this is but it will need a lot more than this to restore the fortunes of the Leven.
Last year the only reasonable fishing to be had was in the spring with no summer or back end runs to speak of, this year not one springer and very few kelts by all accounts.
I think you were right about the light switch. Shame!

Rubberwellie, 24,000 fish were raised in tanks on the Lochy and introduced last year, a few weeks before smolting I believe. Anyone's guess as to how many fish will return this year.
Past the river a few times this year but haven't seen anyone out, would have expected a few fish of the loch given the high water and high tides though.

Last apparent update on LLAIA website was on 10th of Feb. No mention of any fish taken since then.
