Hi guys. Being new to flyfishing i do find the great amount of flies a bit confusing, what with, wet flies, dry flies, buzzers, nymphs ect. I was wondering do you use the same flies on still waters and rivers and does the time of year affect which type fly you would use,or is it just a matter of trial and error. I know a lot of you lads have been fishing for years so any tips would be great. tight lines for the coming year. steve

Hi Steve, Im sure someone who's knows more than me about this will reply, but i think most anglers would use different patterns on the still waters to what they would use on the rivers. Loch flies seem to be more palmered body type flies. Time of year will dictate the pattern
