The Farr Side w/e 16th June 2013 Monday Where has all the water gone since last week? 2 rods today and a fish to the net out the Stream, floating line and a size 12 Silver Stoat Tail. Sun was out today, fish showing in all the pools, some fresh some black. Tuesday 3 rods today nice and cloudy for fishing. John Lynsey an ex Bemersyde and Tay ghillie fishing today. First thing he managed to hook was his lip biting the nylon on the fly, not a good start to the day Stewart Robinson lost a fish out Woodside on the fly and George Bennett had a offer on the Sunray in the Boatpool so not a good day. Wednesday Better looking day, cloud but warm and no wind and a fish out the Cromweil to yours truly. Ian Ross gave me a cast and a 10 lbs fish to the net size 12 fly, fish came for it 3 times on the same cast before it took it. Jim Reid Malloch Trophy winner moved a fish in the Boatpool on the Sunray and i had a good pull in the Stream on the Sunray, Charlie Jeffrey looking on, bugger took some ribbing about holding on to fish but nice to get some action water is low now. Thursday Full house today and low water, some cloud which helped the fishing today. Some interest from the fish one moved to the Sunray in the Cromweil first time Stewart has used it he was excited!! Lost a fish in the Stream also a follow in the Boatpool farside on the Flying C. Friday Quiet day today only 2 rods fishing not much showing either, water up a inch at lunchtime. Saturday Back to windy and showery weather with no fish caught. 4 fish seen all day, need water now!! Other Well done to those catching fish and a special mention to Jim Reid picking up the Malloch Trophy at the House of Bruar last week.

The Farr Side w/e 30th June 2013 Monday Today started with a little more water after some heavy showers over the weekend, up to 5 inches on the gauge, some colour today only 2 rods today fishing the fly, Tristan Jobe had a fish out the boat pool on the Sunray Shadow his first one stripping it in, nice fresh fish, 7lbs took on the surface, he also had one out of the Cromweil in the afternoon on a Yellow Gledswood size 12, fish was old with signs of disease but starting to heal up also damaged down the side looked like seal damage. Tuesday 4 rods today and water dropping all the time, struggled to find enough water for them all to fish. Very few fish showing today and even harder to catch. Some small fish starting to show up in the shallows but still not many small flies being fished. Not even picking up any parr should be getting them every few casts. Wednesday Water gone now and so have any fish we had, 2 rods fish today with nothing to show for there efforts. Was a nice day for fishing overcast and warm, would be good for seatrout if there was any in the river mind they seem to catch them over the other side. Thursday 2 rods fish hard all day, 1 fish lost in the Stream far side just below the white water on the Sunray was on for 2 mins before the little bugger spa the hook out. Good fishing day weather wise, overcast and warmish its supposed to be summer. The new bridge was started up towards the Dish long way to carry wood mind. Friday Back to winter today rain, cloud and cold brrrrrrr!!! Saturday What a great looking day for fishing warm and overcast, pity the fish did not read the script, on the upsides seen the Osprey take a fish out Woodside its the first one i have seen this year on the beat. Lots of young ducklings showing up, second hatch, hope they get some good weather now, most of the crows are gone so they have a good chance to make it. Other Well done Tristan for your two fish on Monday. The August version of Tatler Magazine available in the shops from 1st of July features Big Game Hunter Jim Reid. I look forward to reading the article on my sun lounger down the Costa Blanca this week the five day forecast is 30 Degrees with wall to wall sunshine :-). There's showers forecast for much of the week down the borders, hopefully a rise in the water level.

Hi Folks
Just a quick note to let you know that with wall to wall sunshine there hasn’t been anything off note to report down the river.
The water temperature has been warmer than you local swimming bath which has meant any fish that are in the river have been on the bottom and not interested. Any movement has been early morning or late evening when it has got cooler and with a bit of cover.
Mr Farr has been busy painting the outside of the hut, creosoting the toilet block and cutting grass, the front lawn is now akin to a bowling green.
There are some rain clouds meant to be passing this week, let’s hope they empty into the Tweed and the temperature falls sharply.
Hopefully be back to weekly reports soon!!

Hi Folks
Mr Farr is off on a well deserved holiday, I can confirm I have been receiving text messages saying the beer is cold and the weather is hot and he is missing you all. My reply was:- Tener un buen día (With a large hint of sarcasm)
A rise in the water with some heavy downpours the last few days, there has been fish spotted coming into the river and Ray Borras managed to catch one last week weighing 7lbs which was returned safely. I have attached the picture.
We will get back to regular reports once Ian returns from holiday.

Hi Folks
Well we now have some water at long last!!
There have been a few Seatrout about and we have managed to catch a few which is all good, mainly ranging from 2-5lbs. That’s Seven so far for the season with Ten being caught last year which was well back on our five year average of 30.
Ian Ross managed a 9lbs Salmon on the last day of July so for his efforts he wins the monthly syndicate fish of the month and a bottle of wine.
Ian Pollitt managed to catch a 12lb fish on the 1st August down Woodside on a Gledswood Blue size 10 also safely released.
Special mention to the Birthday Boy David Conroy who on his 42nd Birthday caught a 5lb Seatrout out of the Dish. Well Done!!
There has been a fair bit of weed coming down the river which has been a nuisance.
The Hut is under going some painting work at present and is a rather fetching Green and White.
Stop Press Neil Campbell has managed a 9lbs Salmon from the Copper Beach this morning which was safely returned, the rain has arrived thought and it is currently thumping down at Bemersyde.
Back to full reports soon when Mr Farr returns.
