The Farr Side
w/e 3rd February 2013
Hi Folks the season has got of to a rather damp start with the Tweed running big and brown!!
We had a few syndicate rods down on the 1st February for a wee Dram to toast the water. God aka Ian Farr provided free pies which where greatly appreciated by Ian Pollitt so I am told haha.
I have attached a couple of pictures from the 1st of February. Hopefully we will getting fishing soon!!!!
The normal Farr Side report will resume next week when Ian returns from a few days fishing the Dee.
Cheers

The Farr Side
w/e 10th February 2013
(The Farr Side is a weekly report from Bemersyde Head Ghillie of over quarter of a century Ian Farr.)
Boys and Girls welcome to 2013 season.
We had a very successful Opening Day, 15 of the tenants came for a pie and a wee dram. There was lots of chat about fishing as we watched a big flood running so nothing changes there then!!
Still in flood on the Saturday 3 ft 5 the Leader putting in the colour.
Monday / Tuesday
I was trying to catch a fish at Park on the Dee with no success, Lovely water but no fish about, many thanks to Mark Bird for the invite. Also a big thanks to John Charlton and Ian “the pie man” Pollitt for filling in for me.
Wednesday
Another flood out the Leader so no fishing today.
Thursday
A better day but the water is still big, starting to clear though.
Friday
Very cold and windy day, only 2 rods fished. Water 2f 6 in on the gauge. A fish was lost in Woodside not sure what it was though.
Saturday
Much of the same today but no fish. It’s still cold and windy. The 2 rods went home to watch the rugby at lunchtime.
Very few Kelts showing in the pools this week only one landed out Woodside. The water needs to drop a little so we can get in the Dish
where the Monster Fish hide!! Well they did last year.
Other
For the duration of the syndicate (Feb – Mid Sept) season there will be a bottle of wine up for grabs for the biggest fish caught each month. For the first Springer of the year there will be TWO bottles of wine. Pictures must be taken!!
I will work on something for the overall biggest syndicate fish of the year, any ideas greatly received, a day chopping wood with God looks the favorite at the moment haha.

The Farr Side w/e 24th March 2013 The Farr Side is a weekly report from Ian Farr Bemersyde Head Ghillie of over Quarter of a Century.
Another week of terrible cold and wintery weather L
A very quiet week at Bemersyde with most rods unable to travel due to the inclement weather throughout the UK.
Monday saw the river in flood with water 2 ft 6 and brown, the river level fell all week ending up at 11 inches on Saturday
The highlight of the week came on Thursday when two rods braved the cold biting wind and one caught a Sea Trout Kelt.
Looks like there’s not many fish about above Kelso, some warmer weather and water please.
This time last year we where all basking in 20 Degree heat!!! Brrrrrrrrrrrrr
Other
Well done to the two poor souls that braved it on Thursday.

The Farr Side w/e 7th April 2013 The Farr Side is a weekly report from Ian Farr Bemersyde Head Ghillie of over Quarter of a Century.
Monday
Will this cold east wind never end!! It’s been a pain for the last month. One brave man came to fish today but with no success. The river is holding its height due to a very slow melt of snow in the hills. Scotts View is still thick with it today.
Tuesday
Another cold day at Bemersyde with little spells of sunshine. The water is very clear but the bottom is getting slippy. Full house of rods today and they fished every inch of the pools but no one seen a fish all day.
Wednesday
Again it’s cold with a few scattered rays of sunshine but a lack of sightings.
Thursday
Only two rods today, water up 4 inches during the night. It’s looking a little green again today due to some further snow melt over night. Water temp 38 today but there’s still that cold east wind down your neck Brrrrrrrrr.
Friday
Water up to 1ft 6 today with a slight colour of green again a nice looking water today though. Four rods fish today, Ray Borras had his dogs, some company for the girls. They fish hard all day but nothing to report.
Saturday
Water 1 ft 5 and clear, only 2 rods today and it’s a better day weather wise. Some Olives on the water, but no Trout to be seen, abit like the Salmon.
Other
Again fish are thin on the ground and we really need some water and warmer weather to spark the river into life.
