Here's a fly I have always enjoyed tying as I like the simplicity of it but have added a touch of flash
The Garry
Hook - Any larger Single, Double or Treble
Thread - Black
Tag - Small Oval Silver
Body - Black Floss
Rib - Embossed Silver
Wing - Red Bucktail, 2 strands Red Krystal Flash, Yellow Bucktail - about twice the amount of Red Bucktail
Throat - Dyed Blue Guinea Fowl
Head - Black plus three coats of clear varnish.
But something holds me back from fishing it as often as I might. Maybe the latest "must have" Tying has taken my fancy or I feel that the noble salmon will look down a bit on this simple fly.
Anyway, I am resolved to fish it a bit more often in 2013.
Would love to hear any encouraging tales of fish caught on a During the past seaso or two.
