While I am on the forum tonight, I have a question for anyone out there.
I am fishing the Upper Tweed starting about 0800 tomorrow.
I have never found the first couple of hours all that brilliant. It is usually after 1030 on a dull day.
Convention and local opinion/practice is Size 14 Black and Silver flees- and they work. I have caught fish after 1030 on them!
But what about the first 2-3 hours. Any one got any ideas for flee patterns or methods that work?

Might be worth giving a Sunray a chuck. Had some success early on this year and last. At least you might move a fish or two and find out where they are.

. Cheers and good call,
I think I have a preconceived notion that a Sunray is a "when all else fails" type of fly.
