Had a great trip to the Usk with Dennis' after losing my first Usk double last year these 2 fish made up for it.Both fish were cock's though not silver were very good in condition and great fighters. Both returned and swam off strong. At times there was more water falling on us that was in the river ! Both fish fell to a home tied shrimp fly with a copper tinsel body with a silver rib tied on a size 8 kamasan double. It quite possibly could of been 3 fish for the day when I had a take that bent the rod round and stripped the line up river, but no connection made. Makes you wonder how a fish can hit it so hard but no hook up ? Fish on ! Fish weighed at 12Ib 20z Going back. Estimated at 11 pounds Sewinfly......................

Was on the Usk yesterday with Dennis and Ken was further up on another pool, river was up about a foot plus with some colour and finning off. Dennis and myself fished hard all day in bright sun shine on the river. At about 4 pm with the clouds covering the sun for a long time I was fishing a pool and for some reason you get that feeling I put out a good line and as it settled the rod was pulled down and a bright silver fish of about 10 Ib plus was on. After a good fight for about 5 minutes Dennis was ready with the net then the inevitable happened the the hook pulled out ! Ken also had a fish on briefly much further up. Dennis putting out a good line. Sewinfly..................

River Usk 2013 First time I picked the double hander up since last October so some much needed practice was in order. We started fishing the lower stretch first and with the river carrying maybe an extra 12" and the colour great we were certainly hoping for some sport. I started fishing through a pool and Dennis was following.I got out and Dennis had a good take that hit his fly but did not connect which was a pity. After fishing several other pools no fish were seen or takes off salmon.I managed what looked to be a small seatrout Kelt about a pound. Small hatches of flies showing and a big Stone Fly on my bag so spring might be coming. Also saw a pair of Tawny Owls ans some Buzzards. No salmon but a very nice days fishing. Dennis putting a line out on the upper beat. Sewinfly..................
