Here is my entry for the competiton. I call it the Purple Badger Shrimp It is something I sort of dreamt up as I did not have much in the way of purple coloured flies in my collection The dressing is: Hook - Silver Salar Double 5-7-9 -11 Thread - any dark one will do or white! Tail - A few (10-15) Purple Bucktail hairs plus two strands of Pearl Krystal Mirror Flashin the middle of the tail. NB Two to three turns of tying thread under tail to "lift" it a little Body - Purple UV Dubbing Rib - Oval gold in opposite direction to dubbing Wing - Badger Hair (is longer than looks in photo due to white tips) Squirrel can be used in smaller sizes Collar - softish Purple Cock and swept back a bit Eyes - Jungle Cock Head - Red Holographic Tinsel - Flamethrower Style Varnish - 3 coats of clear Something a bit different and maybe worth a try in most water conditions except dirty/ heavilycoloured. Also on an overcast day when the fish are perhaps ignoring an Ally's Shrimp, Cascade or similar popular fly Hope you like it tweedbunnet

Here's some I did a while ago, it's a 'Black Doctor Flash Zonker' inspired by Micke Lindström. tube: 2mm eumer black plastic tubing thread: red UTC 70 tag: fl orange fluorofibre cone: large eumer fl. orange conehead wing: black tapered rabbit zonker strip * optional tie in some flash or peacock herl on top of the wing (in this case red angel hair) hackle: black cock hackle or rooster schlappen cheeks: optional jungle cock I did a bunch of these varying the length, colour and material of the zonker strips, the size and type of the cones and the amount of flash. It's an interesting pattern to experiment with and one I think will do well next year. Hope you like it

Nice idea and adaptation
I think it will almost certainly take its share of Rainbows also if used for them - as well as Salmon, of course.
I like the Red Conehead - a good target
