Can anyone advise on whether you can get away with using a Skagit Flight head attached to the running line of a Rio Windcutter (assuming that both are the same weight)?
Thanks CH

I don't see why not? The running line of the WC is quite thin, just like a dedicated running line. You may find it a bit short when used with the Skagit though.

Now I am confused.....Skagit Flight Head overall length comes in at 30 feet - but you have to get a running line - hence my original question (I have the sinking heads from the windcutter ). Skagit "full" line overall length comes in at 27.5 feet, with a running line attached. I would have thought that the Flight Head would be the better option for loading a rod as no cheathers are (allegedly) required.

As long as the WC running line can shoot, then why not? I'm assuming you have the running line looped to connect the Flight line and then a tip on the end?
The 2010 Skagit Flight doesn't require a cheater. It will happily cast the appropriately sized MOWS tips. I also use the 15' DDC Connect tips which are fine on this line. The Flight sits somewhere between the "skagit" and "scandi" - maybe this is the next "big-thing", the scandi-skag line!
