Are you sure that's a sea trout and not a bonnie big broonie ? I wasn't at first , but the ghillie was quite certain. It was somewhere between 5lbs and 6lbs.

but that will be the first sea trout I have ever seen wi red spots and I have been fishing for them for 30 years, Only 30 years ? Had you down as a lot older than that ;D I've had a few wi' the red spots over the last 40 years , but they're not at all common. Anyway , I bowed to the ghillie's appraisal of the fish. And , as you say , photos can be misleading. It was a brute of a fish , that gave me a right hard time on a 13'er

It was the 'petrol' blue tinge around the gill casing that made me wonder. Often seen on auld fashioned 'golden belly' broon troot but never seen that on a sea trout - and like stingy i've fished for them for a guid few years. Bonnie fish either way. Well done.

Yup. And I'd rather it was a " troot " for the record. But who knows!
