Spotted on the River Dochart yesterday. So much for conservation measures on the Tay when at Killin you are free to fish the worm so early in the season. I also don't think this angler was intent on catch and release either.

From another viewpoint, does anyone know the rules laid down by the Killin Club? For as long as I know, its always been a wormy bit and it may be he is not breaking any rules. Pressure would then need to be put on the club to review their stance on conservation, which , in view of whats been seen and heard from the loch , would appear to be non existent in the upper catchment.

Salar , zoom in on the guys face, post it again so we can name and shame the f*cker. The photo is not about the angler but the method used. It may be legal within his club rules to fish the worm at this time of year but is out of sync. with the rest of the catchment area. S

If Killin AC allow worming on their water then surely its a tad harsh publishing this pic with such aggressive comments. The guy might have every right to fish the worm. I have seen quite a few fish caught on the worm below the bridge whilst stopping off for a look over the years.

Problem is of course, Iain, that the Code is only a recommendation. It is not a mandatory set of laws. Further problems emerge if you apply to government to make it law, and probably deemed to be not worth the risk and hassle. There does seem to be an ongoing problem once the fish get into the various lochs and tributories in the system and I would suggest that the Board should be showing a higher profile and educating these people. I agree it is highly frustrating to see springers knocked on the head upstream of people who fully comply with the Code. Has it been proved the angler was actually worming?

I do not disagree with any of the comments made and certainly do not condone the indiscriminate killing of springers in the higher reaches of the system. However, until each and every one of the board members can apply their own recommendations to their own beats it is unrealistic to expect anyone else to do so.

Totally agree, does all worming stop after 31st August in the main river as per the recommenadtions

I'm definately not saying it's ok just that there are tons of other instances where recommendations/rules aren't adhered to.
