I was thinking of joining up this year for the trout and salmon ticket. If thats indicative of the rubbish in the pools, don't think I'll bother

Tony the skirlie, great pool the tide pushes the fresh water back up from tidal weir in Glasgow when low water and high tides it goes flat raises about couple of meter's minimum at times, flattens the fast water in the pool and runs above, but its all fresh water some conditions the water doesnt change levels no salt you see the grilse bouncin all over the place they are at your feet where i am standing with hands behind back just breaking the surface with a wink of the eye and a wave with the tail awsome pool Kenny dont you know thats a custom water gauge measures in car parts low water bottom of tyre high water roof covered off the guage but hey as you say your no going to bother ;D Kenny met an aquatince of yours in Livingston the other day an old fishing friend fishes cobbinshaw we pm there is wee bit on blogg site about pool midclydeanglingassociation.blogspot.com/2010/12/skirlie_12.htm

It's the one pool people recognise after hearing the name talked about, but finding it is a new challenge if anyone finds my car keys here there's a drink in it for them Very good low water holding pool and the car channels the water nicely . The first stop for the playfull bars of silver. You can see the city centre from here too, it always brings a few surprised faces from guests. 90% of the comments of guys looking at the Mid Clyde ticket hear stories of waiting at pools for a cast ect, with 8 miles and only 174 permits this year I didn't have another angler fishing near me. Superb value at £70 for first crack at the fish

I was thinking of joining up this year for the trout and salmon ticket. If thats indicative of the rubbish in the pools, don't think I'll bother Kenny, not all of the pools are like the Astra, what we all need to remember is the Clyde flows through some of the most populated towns in the country, Blantyre, Cambuslang, Rutherglen and then on to Glasgow it's self.MCAA has been on the go for a short time , only since 1992, The river management and members were on the water once a month last season clearing up and doing bank maintenance .One of the things MCAA are trying to do is to educate people as to the valuable resource they have in the Clyde , and people are taking note. So with all the help from the members at the clean up days last season and the season to come things can only get better. As I said above all the pools are not like the Astra, here is another few for you to make your mind up.

Hi Scanny,
Just seen this post, I think i'm the fat git with the silly hat!
Both Martin and I had a great time with the Clyde lads. Nothing was too much trouble and a great picnic lunch as well. We intended to leave about 3:30 but were still on the water until about 17:30 such was their hospitality. With tips on how to cast better and where the fish may be lying when fishing - pure magic.
Again many thanks for a great day on the Clyde.
Midge
