Myself and a couple of mates had a day on the Earn yesterday. Started off with a shower of rain but thankfully stopped just as we got to where we wanted to fish. The water was a good height and crystal clear, got set up and started,a few wee trout early doors then nothing till about eleven thirty and the Grayling came on, I managed to hook and land 6and lost about the same again, within an hour they were off again, this has happened for a few years with me now they come on for an hour or so they seem to go off. We fished hard the rest of the day ( till about three o;clock) with nothing else, but we had a good day and will back up in a couple of weeks if the frost comes. The other two guys only had small Troot , no Grayling. All fish were on the worm and all safely returned as usual, I did notice the Grayling that were caught were very small which is unusual for there, I have fished for them at the same spot for 30 odd years and they were the smallest fish I have ever had, still nice to get them thou. Going to give Newtyle a go over Christmas, just hope it's no as cold as last year.Think that was the coldest i have ever been,Remember THAT day Martin?

Think you might find that the Goosanders and more likely cormorants did a wonderful job in committing some Ethnic cleansing on the bigger grayling population last season. About time someone took the problem seriously.
