Ok Im after a bit help with my double handed casting..... Please dont take offence at my next statement. But what Im looking for is a fishing buddy who is willing to help me as affording a days fishing and a days lesson is a tad to rich for me. I am willing to drive and cover the cost of fuel for anyone who is willing to give me some help. I was thinking we could book a days fishing I pick you up and in return I drive, and bring the lunch. I know a instructer is the way forward and the intruscters do have their living to make so again i am not knocking them. but unfortunately I am just a normal working man and would rather spend my hard earned cash fishing. Im from the Falkirk area.

Best way I think is to find a group of local guys who regularly fish your water and start with them. You'll not only learn from watching them, but you'll have a good laugh and pick up the nuances that get them fish over others. I fish with a few reprobates who luckily are very good anglers, so are on hand to tell me to put a line away and fish practically, pick up casting faults, or tell me I'm plain wrong What water do you usually fish? Finding a club water you can fish a few times a week for buttons is a good start, if nothing else it gets you some water time and starting to read pools. The Days on nicer bears aren't wasted by casting niggles. There's plenty of water near you; the forth, tieth, earn, carron. Your 35 minutes drive from the Clyde giving fishing from the march run through to October, for £60 a year. You can throw as much money at it starting out, but until the fluffy thing is at the right depth and speed it's money wasted.

Scanny thanks. At present Ive a ticket for Applegarth on the Annan but im thinking about giving it up and getting a Teith ticket next year as its closer and Ive more chance of getting the river when conditions are correct. next year I will be back up the Thurso and will also be wetting a line on the Naver and I also hope to wet a line on Pert. Thats why I would like to sort my spey casting out as you say.

The Annans a fair treck from Falkirk, get the Forth and Tieth combined ticket instead and you'll be able to fish and get back in a morning to keep the good lady happy. There's a few casting days over the winter over this way, always good craic and the best way to try other kit and set ups, not to mention pick up tips. Pert is a superb bit of water, best get left hand up practice in, or just overhead in the Boat pool

I've been on shooting heads all summer, I hadn't used a full line in months until today, even had the 12'6 stinger on Friday, not the best plan wading deep in the cotter

It was doing all right, I reckon it's good for 35 yards with an afs on it ankle deep I hope the rest of the party on 15/10/2011 decide to join in with me in adventurous drinking and not just let me get drunk alone The Nith meet tactics have been decided, I'm making punch, taken 5 years to perfect, guaranties to loose you at least a day of your life with a hangover
