Best Cast for longer distance?

Just wondering what type or style of cast members find best to use if they which to get optimum distance.

For example, landing a fly a few inches from the other bank but everything under control and without "bursting the shoelaces".

You are absolutely correct, bubble and fly accounts for good numbers of fish on the Forth especially when an upstream wind chops the water.

Single spey with a good dose of effort, and of course drift I knew i should have videoed Scott explaining the drift in his distance style this afternoon:D

A snap t that's pretty open gives you almost as far, and negates most of the timing issues

Aye, you're right about the Pendulum cast with a bubble. Used to be pretty good with it myself when I was a youngster and fished the Bubble and Fly.

Flies above it on droppers.

But had the odd salmon too.

Bubble and fly is Robert Gillespie's favourite way of fishing the Moy for salmon, apparently.
