Fellow tiers
I have a ruck load of materials that I have bought over the years and many of them I don't use that often. I will detail them if requested.
I've been in the situation where I wanted to tie a couple of flies but didn't have the materials for it. I've been in that situation many times, but it sometimes doesn't warrant buying say a cape for a couple of flies. I'm sure many of you have been in a similar situation.
If I have a material you'd like to try for a couple of flies I'll happily post you a sample. Is anyone else willing to do the same? It may also be a good way of trying before buying and finding out the best suppliers of the best materials.
Like I said, I would be willing to send a small sample that would do a couple of flies to anyone who seems genuine about tying and has a need for a particular material.
Maybe a nice idea would be to repay with a fly you've tied with the materials sent just so it becomes a sharing thing not a wanton giveaway. Oh, and maybe submit the fly you tie into one of the comps or the SBS, or post a report if you have any success with a fly you tied utilising the materials you received from a share??

No takers yet, but I feel a Green Highlander in my undies. What do I need to tie 2 tubes (I have the tubes, I'm on about what else) and what would you like in return? I have 3 very nice Whiting Rooster capes in red, orange and purple. I'd be happy to pull out a couple of feathers off each cape and post them to you And, some black krynkle flash if you don't already have some ATB Ade

Hi Ade, This is a great idea as I'm sure a lot of guys would like to experiment with certain flees and don't want to go to the expense of buying a full cape etc etc. RE Green Highlander, what materials do you need? i take it you have a patteren to work to tell me what you need, i could do with some purple saddle hackles for a flee one of my mates uses Tony

PM your address (again, sorry). You tell me about the Green Highlander? Like I mentioned, I wouldn't usually consider green, but think I have seen one of your's on here. I'll take any advice going, especially from you. ATB Ade

Ive been actively invovlved with another material swap Ade has organised and its been invaluble to myself and others. The Pink panther I tied up came from materials sought from the material swap. Sinve that initial swap myself and the other chap have been in contact and we have helped each other out not just in tying Materials but other fishing related areas. A great thing lets keep this rolling.

A great thing lets keep this rolling. That's cool CCAC, very cool that you are getting something out of the interaction with fellow fishers Just trying to work out who you are There's no reason why the swap/share wouldn't work, it has all our interests at heart with the only special gain to try a sample of material we would otherwise have to invest heavily in, and then find it was poor quality, we would never use it again, the colours were not right and that the service from supplier was good/poor. etc., etc. It would also help the novices I believe, not that I consider myself out of that category. To all: get swapping, sharing, advising and tying, and all the best for 2011 Tightlines Ade

I'm in. Anyone got that dark green goat hair needed for the "Eternal Optimist" NW Hi NW The only thing green I have, I smoke. Must look into more green things myself, as I have been told it could prove worthwile considering. Do you have a pic of the EO so that someone on here can match up the colours you need a sample of?
