I'm going to give this a try this month after the slow uptake to the previous tying competitions.
This month rather than habving two tying competitions we are only having 1.
The winner shall receive a prize of fly tying materials from both Foxy-tails and the Helmsdale tackle company. making it a prize REALLY worth winning.
This competition is for NEW patterns. This can however include a VARIATION of an exsisting pattern.
To enter please post a picture of your fly along with a full dressing, and improtantly a name for your pattern.
The competition will remain open until the last day of the month at 9pm. It will then be down to a 7 day poll to see who wins.
So come on guys get your thinking caps on and lets see some new and innovative patterns that trhe tyers on our forum are capable of producing.
Good luck and happy tying.
Dave.

This fly was designed with UV properties in mind and using colours close to the live natural shrimp found in the sea. IE Black and white(translucent), the white is meant to represent the translucence. The name came from the hair used to tie it and it's appearance "Skunk Tail" you can substitute your own favourite hair. The skunk tails usually have a variety of black and white hair grading from very soft flowing hair like fox through to rough and stiff like bucktail. And they don't smell Tail: Black skunk hair with sparse long white sides + 2 strands flash Rear Body: Pearly white flat braid Mid Hackle: White & Black barred cree cock Front body: Black foss Rib: Front half only pearl oval tinsel Wing: White skunk hair + 2 strands flash Hackle: Black Cock Cheeks: Jungle Cock Head: Red I also designed it, for my own use, bearing in mind that the white colour could be adapted to suit conditions and water height. A variety of colours in this style of fly can be produced including black and orange, black and red, black and yellow etc... swap everything white for the colour of your choice Ultra Voilet photo under a black light Orange Skunk Red Skunk

i think this is a little pattern which would work well for grilse on all occasion as it has plenty of flash in the underbody. is shows up particulary well in dirty water too which is an added bonus. Hook: Size 14 VMC. Tail: yellow and orange bucktail along with 2/3 stands crystal hair. Continuous body: Holographic silver with palmered yellow hackle. Rib: Small oval silver(this holds the yellow hackle in place. Hackle: hot organge cock topped off with some jc eyes head: red
